Before joining Clark Baird Smith LLP, Catherine Seidelman was an attorney with the federal government for over a decade. Most recently, Ms. Seidelman worked in the U.S. Department of Labor’s National Office, based in Washington, D.C., as a senior attorney. In this role, she focused exclusively on OSHA matters and was responsible for negotiating corporate-wide settlement agreements, reviewing significant enforcement cases, assisting OSHA with rulemaking, and serving as a coordinator for whistleblower matters. Ms. Seidelman also previously worked in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Chicago Regional Solicitor’s Office as a trial attorney. At the Chicago RSOL Office, she litigated OSHA, FLSA, FMLA, and ERISA cases; she also represented management officials in employment discrimination cases before the EEOC and MSPB, and successfully defended the Agency in a grievance arbitration. In addition, she served as the office’s FMLA Coordinator, OSHA Warrant Coordinator, and the Coordinator for OSHA Partnerships and Alliances. Ms. Seidelman frequently served as an instructor at OSHA’s Training Institute as well. During her tenure at the U.S. Department of Labor, Ms. Seidelman was the recipient of several Secretary's Exceptional Achievement Awards.
Prior to her time at the U.S. Department of Labor, Ms. Seidelman was a field attorney at the National Labor Relations Board in Regions 13 and 18. She litigated numerous cases alleging unfair labor practices, oversaw union elections, and served as a hearing officer in representation cases. Ms. Seidelman also served as a FOIA officer while there.
Ms. Seidelman received her law degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where she graduated cum laude.
She received her bachelor's degree, graduating magna cum laude, from Marquette University.
